Richmond Symphony Youth Orchestra Program

The Richmond Symphony's flagship educational program consists of four youth orchestras providing beginning to advanced musical training. As the premiere orchestral training program of central Virginia, students participate in weekly rehearsals, coaching and masterclasses by Richmond Symphony musicians, chamber music performances, mentoring and other musical and social activities.

In an effort to ensure that the Richmond Symphony Youth Orchestra Program (YOP) participation is accessible to all students regardless of their ability to pay we are proud to offer a number of tuition assistance programs. Please see the Youth Auditions page for detailed information.

CURRENT STUDENTS

Weekly rehearsal notes, seating results, announcements, etc. will be posted below for each ensemble. Every student is responsible for checking rehearsal notes for their ensemble each week. New postings will be made every Thursday. Be sure to read all the below links thoroughly. Direct any questions to the Education & Community Engagement Manager.

Reminder: RSYO students are only allowed one (1) absence for the Side by Side concert cycle.  If a second absence occurs, participation in the concert will be at the discretion of Dr. Freeman and will require an audition of your parts for Dr. Freeman.  Please make every effort to be in attendance at all rehearsals.
